We are working to provide content in nine languages, but due to a shortage of translators, we have not been able to translate everything. Therefore, some content will be in English where Sami text is missing. Thank you for your understanding!
Who is the target group for the Sami Church Days?
The Sami Church Days are primarily oriented towards the entire Sami population of the Sami area and function as an important meeting place where people from different backgrounds and faith expressions gather to exchange experiences and strengthen their bonds.
There is a separate youth program at the event, because the Sami Church Days are a central meeting spot for Sami youth. Young people can get to know faith and culture with their peers in an innovative and inclusive environment. We also find it important to make the event accessible to families with children by setting up activities and experiences where both old and young can participate in a meaningful way.
In addition to this, the Sami Church Days are of interest to experts and academics whose fields of work include Sami and indigenous questions. The event welcomes locals and others, too, who are curious about Sami culture and the role of the church in society.
The Sami Church Days also act as a meeting place for representatives of different churchly ecclesial organizations, Christian congregations and social actors. By cooperating and exchanging experiences we strengthen the bonds and understanding across different traditions and fields.
